Sainsbury’s removes plastic lids from own-brand products.

From March 2023, ranges including guacamole, tzatziki and sour cream and chive dip will no longer be sold with lids. The supermarket said that it started the move to remove lids in 2019 for products including sour cream and cottage cheese. Earlier this year, Sainsbury’s also removed single-use plastic lids from all own-brand yoghurt. Sainsbury’s added that the removal of the single-use plastic lids will save 71 million pieces of plastic each year in total, equating to 220 tonnes of plastic.
