HOW THE MOON'S PHASES INFLUENCE OUR MINDS BODIES AND EMOTIONS.
For centuries, the moon has been the ultimate superstar, dazzling us with its glow and inspiring more tales than a campfire storyteller. It's the celestial mood ring of the sky, with its phases, new, waxing, full, and waning, playing a cosmic game of peek-a-boo. And let's be honest, it's not just a pretty face; it messes with our minds, bodies, and emotions like a cosmic puppeteer.
THE IMPACT ON OUR SLEEP.
Many people notice a change in their sleep patterns linked to the moon's phases. Research indicates that sleep quality tends to decline during a full moon. In a study published in 2013, participants reported that sleep duration decreased by an average of 20 minutes during the full moon phase. Some people also took longer, up to five minutes more, to fall asleep during this time.
THE IMPACT ON OUR ENERGY.
The moon phases can significantly influence our energy levels. Many individuals experience a boost of energy and excitement during a full moon. This phase is often associated with increased creativity, productivity, and motivation. For example, people tend to engage more in social activities or start new projects when the moon is full.
THE INFLUENCE ON OUR EMOTIONS.
The emotional effects of the moon phases are both interesting and impactful. During the full moon, many people feel heightened emotions, which can lead to increased sensitivity and vulnerability. Some studies suggest that emergency room visits and psychiatric interventions rise during a full moon.
NEW MOON: A TIME FOR RESTART.
The new moon stands for fresh starts and the chance for personal reflection. It symbolizes new beginnings and serves as a time to gather energy for upcoming pursuits. This phase is ideal for activities that promote growth. Setting personal goals, creating vision boards, or meditating on your aspirations can help you manifest what you want in life.
FULL MOON: A TIME FOR RELEASE.
The full moon represents a prime opportunity for letting go and introspection. Many find it helpful to jot down things they wish to release, whether habits, emotions, or past experiences, and then engage in a symbolic act, such as burning the paper. This phase also serves as a perfect time for celebration, allowing us to acknowledge our accomplishments.
LUNAR OR A BALANCED LIFE.
The moon's phases are like the universe's own reality show, and we're all part of the cast! We can boost our well-being and even become better versions of ourselves. Whether you're feeling like a superhero during the full moon or turning into a deep thinker during the new moon, embracing these cosmic vibes can lead to a more balanced life.
Memento Moon: What Was Left Behind.
Between 1969 and 1972, twelve astronauts successfully landed on the Moon and returned to Earth, bringing back with them lunar samples and scientific data, and, perhaps most importantly, a new understanding of what it meant to be human. But what did they leave behind? In addition to their footprints, long-term scientific experiments such as the Lunar Surface Experiment Package (ALSEP), and discarded equipment such as the lunar rover, some astronauts left a more unique mark on the Moon. Learn about some of things we left behind on the Moon below. Source: airandspace.si.edu
APOLLO 11 GOODWILL DISK.
One of the most well-known and notable items was left behind by the first people on the Moon: the Apollo 11 astronauts. The Apollo 11 goodwill disk was a silicon disc, which, in exceedingly tiny type, displays goodwill messages from world leaders. The creation and placement of this marker on the Moon symbolized that Apollo 11 was not just an American success, but an achievement for all humanity.
APOLLO 14 GOLF CLUBS AND BALLS.
In 1971, during the Apollo 14 mission, NASA astronaut Alan Shepard carried a golf club—a modified Wilson six iron—in his spacesuit pocket, attaching the club head to the handle of a contingency sample return device. He then proceeded to smack two golf balls on the lunar surface, which are still there today.
APOLLO 16 FAMILY PHOTO.
During the Apollo 16 mission, astronaut Charles Duke brought an even more personal memento to be left behind on the Moon—a photograph of him and his family. Featuring his wife Dotty, his two sons Charles and Tom, and himself, the photo was framed and signed by Duke, and tucked in a plastic sleeve.
