ABOUT THIS EDITION: World Architecture Day

World Architecture Day arrives every first Monday of October, celebrating the profound impact of architects and their designs on human civilization. This month’s theme also highlights environmentally friendly buildings which are an essential defense in the fight against climate change. According to the United Nations Environment Program, buildings account for roughly 40 percent of global energy consumption and a third of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions. Given the sector’s colossal impact, many pioneering architects have championed green buildings in all corners of the world.

「世界建築日」定於每年10月的第一個星期一，旨在頌揚建築師及其設計作品對人類文明的深遠影響。本月的主題特別強調了環保建築，因為它們是應對氣候變遷的關鍵防線。根據聯合國環境規劃署統計，建築業的能源消耗約佔全球總能耗的40%，溫室氣體排放量則佔全球總量的三分之一。鑑於該行業影響巨大，世界各地許多先行建築師都在積極倡導並推廣綠色建築。
