F.E.A.S.T. Update

Well…I actually did it, achieved something I never thought I could! I did the London Marathon 2019! Even with a dodgy ankle that gave way at mile 18! - St John's were amazing and so supportive, massive kudos to them! It did mean I lost nearly an hour on my time, finally finishing after 7 hours, but it’s just made me more determined and meant I’ve entered the ballot for 2020, ha!
I met some top notch inspiring people along the way, especially on the Epilepsy Action team. In particular a young lady called Ebony, who has lived with Epilepsy since she was 10 years old (now 22) and her incredibly supportive partner Matthew. They have both been raising for Epilepsy Action for nearly 10years now and Ebony has never let her illness stop her from participating in every charity event she has organised - I felt honoured to run alongside such a brave woman and it just made my experience on the day all the more memorable!
Ultimately we were all running, not just for our charities, but for ourselves and/or someone close to our hearts and for me that is my brother Marley Thomas. A little update on him: we are at the second stage of tests now just awaiting an appointment, which means he will have to endure 2 weeks of electrodes inserted through his skill on to his brain to try and determine a more finite area of activity during his seizures. Should this be successful he will then be approved for this life changing brain surgery that could rid him of his Epilepsy all together! I can’t begin to imagine how he’s feeling, but he has such strength and determination - I am a super proud big sister!!
Words cannot truly express how thankful I am to every single person who donated, supported and tracked me all the way, you are all #heroes! Together we have smashed my fundraising target of £1850 and came in at a total of £2366.45 (with offline donations), with JPGE contributing £303 through the FEAST campaign I created, at work, and generosity on my JustGiving page!! I am beyond grateful to have such a supportive network of colleagues! THANK YOU!!
